Welcome to my blog

There is a subject that comes naturally to everyone. For me, fortunately, it's gardening. I truly love my "work"and can't really call owning and managing a garden center work. It's a lot of work but not really "work."

For years now, I have wanted to share my experience and knowledge on gardening. And now I have the perfect opportunity by way of my blog. Here you'll find tips for:
  • design ideas,
  • plant care,
  • seasonal advice,
  • plant identification (what's in bloom),
  • and what to do next.
I look forward to sharing my experience, mistakes, and grand successes with you. Together, we'll make our gardens grow.

Your thoughts and questions are welcome. Contact me by email at joecarmack@gardendistrict-dc.com.

Now for my first tip... don't expect to achieve your vision of the garden overnight. It took me three years to get it. Continue to take chances, be patient, and don't repeat what has failed (there is probably a good reason for it).

And remember, the garden is the first thing everyone sees and is the first "entrance" to your home. It is a wonderful opportunity to express yourself and make all who enter feel welcome.
